For the fourth time in four games the Islanders held their opponent to less than 40 percent shooting, allowing only 34.5 percent shooting from the floor to the Governors.  The Blue and Green also gave up just 16.7 percent of threes to Austin Peay, who went 2-of-12 from beyond the arc.

"I kind of had that feeling coming in where it was going to be one of those nights where we had to grind things out," Head Coach Willis Wilson said. "I thought our guys did a really nice job. They were relentless. They weren't going to go away easily. You have to feel good about being able to grind one out against a team like that."

After trailing 24-23 at the break, the Islanders used a 19-1 run over nearly 10 minutes of play to turn a 32-31 deficit into a 50-33 lead with just 4:26 to play. Sophomore Ehab Amin sparked the surge, scoring six points in a span of one minute and 13 seconds.

Clutch free throw shooting and handling pressure allowed the Islanders to hold on for the victory. A&M-Corpus Christi finished the night 17-of-20 from the charity stripe, while the Governors were 8-of-24 from the line.

"In the second half we got into our rhythm," Wilson said. "We were able to spread the ball around a little bit more and got some bunnies because of partner-passing and moving the ball side-to-side."

PYE LEADS ISLANDERS WITH 16 POINTS
Brandon Pye led the Islanders in scoring for the third time in the last four games, finishing with 16 points.
• The senior went 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and 5-of-10 overall in 33 minutes.
• Pye is fifth all-time in school history with 124 three-pointers made.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE FOR THOMAS
Rashawn Thomas recorded his second double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds against the Governors.  The league-leader in blocked shots added three swats an assist and a steal in the victory. It marked Thomas's 14th career double-double, which ranks fifth all-time at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

SECOND HALF OFFENSIVE SURGE
• The Islanders shot 52.4 percent from the floor in the second half, going 11-of-21 from the field.
• The Blue and Green outscored Austin Peay 38-24 overall in the final 20 minutes.
• Pye led the Islanders with 11, while Bryce Douvier scored eight in the second half alone.
